Oregon's income tax is graduated: 4 brackets running from 4.75% to 9.9%, the 6th-highest top rate of the 51 jurisdictions. The top rate applies to a single filer's taxable income above $125,000. Joint filers get exactly double the bracket widths at every rate, so a married couple pays what two single filers on half the income each would pay. Heads of household get a third schedule of their own, wider than the single one. A single filer subtracts a $2,835 standard deduction before the rates are applied, and a $256 personal exemption then comes off the tax itself rather than off income.

Assumptions
- Ordinary-income rate schedules only; no credits, AMT, capital-gains rates, QBI deduction or the 2025–2028 senior deduction.
- Standard deduction (plus additional amounts for 65+/blind) or your itemized figure, whichever is larger; no dependent-filer limitation.
- Married filing separately uses half the joint federal thresholds, per the IRS schedule, and the state's single-filer schedule.
- State tax uses each state's published rate schedule, standard deduction and personal exemption for the tax year shown with the results; the source URL and year for the state you pick are printed above the results, along with the simplifications made for that state.
- State figures exclude county, municipal and city income taxes, itemized deductions, retirement and capital-gains exclusions, and credits that phase out. Unlisted states fall back to the flat rate you enter.

How the neighbours compare
Oregon borders 4 other jurisdictions. Moving across a state line is the one way most people can actually change which of these schedules applies to them, so here is the same income run through each of them.
| State | Rate structure | $50,000 | $75,000 | $150,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oregon | 4.75% – 9.9% | $3,561 | $5,748 | $12,566 |
| California | 1% – 13.3% | $1,193 | $2,928 | $9,858 |
| Idaho | 0% – 5.3% | $1,560 | $2,885 | $6,860 |
| Nevada | No income tax | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| Washington | No income tax | $0 | $0 | $0 |
State income tax on a single filer, after each state’s own deductions. Federal tax is identical wherever you live, so the difference between these rows is the whole difference.
What these Oregon figures leave out
Recorded against Oregon in the data rather than glossed over, because they change real bills.
- Heads of household use Oregon's Chart J, the same one joint filers use, which is applied here.
- Oregon allows a subtraction for federal income tax paid, up to $8,500 and phasing out above $125,000 of federal AGI. It is not modelled, so Oregon tax is overstated for most filers — often by several hundred dollars.
- The $256 exemption credit is applied here, but it drops to zero above $100,000 of federal AGI ($200,000 joint); that cliff is not modelled.
- Local income taxes are not included. The Portland area levies separate transit, Metro housing and Multnomah County income taxes.
- Oregon had not published a 2026 schedule when this was compiled.
