European Central Bank reference rate for 2026-09-11.

This is the mid-market rate, not the one you will be given. The European Central Bank publishes these once each working day as a reference. A bank, card or bureau adds a margin to it and may charge a fee on top, so the amount that actually reaches the other account is lower. Use this to check whether a quoted rate is fair, not to predict what you will receive.

European Central Bank reference rates for 2026-09-11.

How the rate is set

The European Central Bank collects rates from central banks across Europe at 14:15 Central European Time each working day and publishes a single reference rate per currency. There is no ECB rate at the weekend or on a euro-area holiday, so a Saturday reading is Friday’s figure.

A rate between two currencies that are not the euro — USD to PLN — is a cross rate, worked out by going through the common currency rather than quoted directly. That is the same arithmetic every provider does, and it is why the inverse of a rate is exactly one divided by it here, while a bank will quote you two different numbers for the two directions. The gap between those two numbers is the margin.

Rates move continuously while markets are open. A reference rate is a snapshot of one moment in the day, which is what makes it useful for accounting and for checking a quote, and useless for timing a transfer.
