Grams to cups

100 g of flour = 0.83 cups, of sugar 0.51, of honey 0.30
The same weight, three different volumes.

cups = grams ÷ (grams per cup for that ingredient)

Grams to cups needs the ingredient for the same reason cups to grams does: you are converting a mass into a volume, and how much room a given weight takes up depends entirely on what it is. 100 g of flour is most of a cup; 100 g of honey is less than a third of one. The table gives every ingredient, and the converter handles weights that are not listed.

Dry ingredients assume the spoon-and-level method: the ingredient spooned into the measure and swept flat, not scooped and packed. Scooping flour from the bag can add a fifth to the weight.

Questions

How many cups is 100 g?
Of flour, 0.83 cups. Of granulated sugar, about half a cup. Of honey, less than a third. There is no single answer, because you are converting a weight into a volume and the ingredient decides how much room it takes.
How many cups is 500 g of flour?
About 4.2 cups — 500 ÷ 120. Most bread recipes that call for 500 g of flour are written that way precisely to avoid the cup measurement.
Why does every recipe site give a different number?
Because a cup of flour is not a fixed amount. Spooned and levelled it is around 120 g; scooped from the bag, 140 g or more. Sites differ by which they assume. Weighing removes the question.
