It was created in 2013 by Joe Sexton and is owned and operated by Calc Hub, LLC, based in Minnesota. Its About page introduces contributors with their qualifications — Elise Harlow, MS, RDN; Kevin Weekly, PhD; Teresa Michelsen, PhD — and its pages carry those names. It runs mobile apps on the App Store and Google Play, and it sells display advertising: its ads.txt redirects to an ad manager at ads.adthrive.com.
Of everyone in this comparison, Inch is the site whose approach to trust is most directly the opposite of ours.
What Inch Calculator does better than us
A qualified human is named on the page
Their mortgage payoff calculator reads “By Joseph Rich, MS / Reviewed by Laura Deimling, MBA”, and the About page introduces a dietitian with an MS and RDN, an electrical-engineering PhD and an environmental-science PhD. We have no bylines and no reviewers, and we will not manufacture either. If accountability means a name and a qualification, that is theirs and not ours.
Eleven times the catalogue, in places we do not go
3,500+ against our 331. Their 14 categories include Cooking & Baking, Electrical, Pets, Shipping & Logistics, Automotive and TV & Video; we have a handful of calculators scattered across those subjects and not a single category for any of them. Joe Sexton founded the site in 2013 out of engineering and construction work, and the trade calculators show it.
Something to cite
The mortgage payoff calculator we checked ends with a formatted citation carrying the date it was retrieved — useful for a report, a bid or a homework reference. We offer nothing of the kind; you would have to write the citation yourself from the URL and the updated date.
Apps on your phone
They ship on the App Store and Google Play. We are a website and nothing else. If you want a calculator on your phone without opening a browser, that settles it.

What we do that they don’t
No advertising on the page
Inch funds itself with display advertising, which is a normal and transparent way to pay for 3,500 calculators. The consequence for a reader is advertising on the page; we carry none, because we sell nothing.
An embed with your branding, not ours
Their widget requires the Inch Calculator logo and a link back inside the code. Ours asks for one line of text credit outside the frame, and you choose the wording — so the calculator on your page looks like part of your page.
Callable by software and by AI assistants
Free JSON API, no key, and an MCP server an assistant can connect to so it runs our tested code instead of doing the arithmetic itself. We did not find an equivalent on the pages we checked.
Goal seek, sensitivity and side-by-side scenarios
Solve backwards for any input on 265 of our 331 calculators, rank what actually moves the answer on 258, and run two scenarios side by side on all of them.
Math that gates the deploy
More than 3,800 automated tests, including reference values worked out independently of the code, run before anything ships. A failing calculator means the site does not deploy — a different assurance from a credentialed reviewer, and one you can check by calling the API yourself.
Where we are weak
Against Inch Calculator specifically, these are the things you would be giving up by using this site:
